Matthew Williamson; the show stopper of S/S 2011.

Matthew Williamson is a British born designer who has already made his mark in fashion by winning best dressed for celebrities throughout 2010 and past years. Celebrities include Rebecca Ferguson (xfactor finalist) who was wearing the Valencia Beaded Column dress on her final performance.

                Matthew Williamsons summer collection 2011 promises to be an exciting collection with a start of simple fitted garments that explode into evening dresses with amazing silhouettes with elegant colours. Williamson summer collection was inspired by Hubertus Von Hohenloh photographer that published a collection of his work in a book titled “Urban Jungles”. Williamson was inspired by a smaller collection of photographs; a window scene that reflects the grey urban city of New York whilst still being able to see the colour of the window display. The collection shows grey urban colours with small amounts of colour phasing out of the garments as you go through the collection. The garments eventually become more expressive with colour and shape which relates to the window pictures that sees more of the window display and less of the reflection of New York City.

                This Batik print mousseline beaded strap gown (below) is a perfect way to make a big impression on the first spring party event. The dress shows animal and nature prints that welcome the spring. The dress is draped from the top of the garment, outwards from the bust and has been pleated to which it then meets round the back showing a high quality of stitching that still makes the dress an amazing wear for the spring to come.
