What to expect from 2011

Gaga and Beyonce certainly made a big trend set for last year with their music video of telephone but what to be expect this year of them. Beyonce is pregnant so do we expect a line of maternity wear to go with the fever fragrance and will Gaga create another show stopping dress of something much more surprising than meat?
With the VAT going up it is hard to follow the styles of Eve Longoria; who is giving a helping hand in modelling Posh's new line. So who are the trend setters for 2011?
Ke$ha's up coming release of her new album Cannibal and sightings of her at the EMA's and teen choice awards in a rock chic and edgy fashion, but will it turn the tables on the "folk" music trend we have been inspired by so far. Stars like Adam Lambert can hope for the best that that the rock trends will slowly take over the high street retailers like Topshop/Topman, Republic and Cecil Gee.
But it's not the singers that have seemed to make an impression in 2010 with their styles. Dannii Minogue certainly turned up the heat in the best dressed competition between the judges of Xfactor. With her new line Project D Dannii Minogue may be the most loved person in the January sales at the moment of course she can't take all of the credit. Tabitha the women's wear brand also gave a helping hand in creating the simplistic minimal garments by Dannii Minogue. But mabey its not  Project D line Dannii seems to be making a trend out of, her recent appearance on the M&S adverts with the glamorous model Ziggy and top comedy man Peter Kay and have no doubt improved on the sale rates of M&S's old fashioned styles of suits and dresses. Perhaps a change in the old age elbow pad jacket, although I have heard the're in.
Hugo Boss have made a more appealing look to the youth with their more luxury casual styles in Boss Orange  but we can't expect to pay £39.99 for knit cap. Perhaps we can go down town to see if we can get the next closest thing in Burtons.
2011 will surely be difficult as we expect high prices from our favourite shops but hopefully a change in theme from the high street retailers.

Matthew Williamson; the show stopper of S/S 2011.

Matthew Williamson is a British born designer who has already made his mark in fashion by winning best dressed for celebrities throughout 2010 and past years. Celebrities include Rebecca Ferguson (xfactor finalist) who was wearing the Valencia Beaded Column dress on her final performance.
Matthew Williamsons summer collection 2011 promises to be an exciting collection with a start of simple fitted garments that explode into evening dresses with amazing silhouettes with elegant colours. Williamson summer collection was inspired by Hubertus Von Hohenloh photographer that published a collection of his work in a book titled “Urban Jungles”. Williamson was inspired by a smaller collection of photographs; a window scene that reflects the grey urban city of New York whilst still being able to see the colour of the window display. The collection shows grey urban colours with small amounts of colour phasing out of the garments as you go through the collection. The garments eventually become more expressive with colour and shape which relates to the window pictures that sees more of the window display and less of the reflection of New York City.
This Batik print mousseline beaded strap gown (below) is a perfect way to make a big impression on the first spring party event. The dress shows animal and nature prints that welcome the spring. The dress is draped from the top of the garment, outwards from the bust and has been pleated to which it then meets round the back showing a high quality of stitching that still makes the dress an amazing wear for the spring to come.
This dress can be worn as a formal evening gown or for those all-important lunch dates by adding bigger accessories such as a hat, sunglasses and bracelets. Wear it with a jacket to downsize on the formalness of the dress.
The dress is available to purchase on Matthew Williamson’s official online store for £1,320.00 and is available in sizes 6 to 14. So get saving girls.
To the left is Rebecca Ferguson wearing the amazing beaded dress from the winter 2010 collection. The dress fits the curves of the body, as it is tightened at the waste. The beautiful beading of the dress make the attention to detail a show stopper.

A New Year of Fashion

2011 a year that promises to bring us bigger and better collections to the runway however dramatic in prices as the VAT goes up yet again. With the sales still continuing women are running in and out of shops trying to find that camel coat they have had their eye on for two months since Vogue announced the return of the old aged trend. But with the slow release of the spring/summer collections we need to start looking at what needs to go into our wardrobe in preparation for the spring. This week I will be looking at a couple of designer that are guaranteed to create an impact of the summer trends. Enjoy!
